During one rehearsal, director Sam Mendes asked the actors where they were before the scene begins. Annette didn’t lose a beat:

“‘I was at the dry cleaner’s, and I’m very upset because they lost my cream-colored blouse and they shouldn’t be allowed to get away with that because it’s the second blouse they’ve lost, and I’m going to write a letter! This can’t happen anymore!’
